Information we collect
Visitors: if you visit GlobalNewsmen and browse through pages without logging in, we will not collect personal information about you, except for your IP address. We collect and record information on our server logs, including IP addresses and pages requested. We also may collect certain non-personally identifiable information when you visit many of our web pages such as the type of browser you are using (e.g., Firefox, Internet Explorer), the type of operating system you are using, (e.g., Microsoft Windows or Mac OS) and the domain name of your Internet service provider (e.g., America Online, EarthLink).
Logged in Users: you provide us with your personal information when you register at GlobalNewsmen (see registration page for details). You can always update any information you have provided during registration in the Edit Profile page. You profile information will not be displayed to other users except to users managing News Outlet Accounts. Managers of News Outlet Accounts can view your name, profile photo, country you are from, ratings of your profile by other News Outlets, etc… when you submit news reports to them or on the user page. Other Profile Information: when you submit a news report to News Outlets, your profile information is being made part of your news report, for the purpose of identifying the newsmen who created and shared news content to a certain News Outlet.
How We Use Your Information
We may disclose to the News Outlets some of the information you provide about yourself, as well as ratings by News Outlets on reports you created, and ratings of your profile (Amateur, Professional) by the News Outlets, based on the quality of reports you have created. Your personal information will be used for transferring via PayPal your portion of compensation for a New Report purchased by a News Outlet.
We may also use all the above information for other purposes, such as statistics, determining and qualifying for badges and rewards, etc…
We may use your personal information to communicate with you or contact you for any reason.
Although we take appropriate measures to safeguard against unauthorized disclosures of information, we cannot assure you that personally identifiable information that we collect will never be disclosed in a manner that is inconsistent with this Privacy Statement.
We also use information about our users for various purposes, such as estimating number of user visiting GlobalNewsmen, specific geographical locations of users and reports created, date/time stamp, referring and exit pages, diagnostics and improvement of services by our engineers, research, customization and other reporting. Except as otherwise stated herewith, we do not share your personally identifiable information with third parties.
Your Account Protection
Password of your account is the key to your personal information and your news content. Do not disclose your GlobalNewsmen password to anyone. If you do so, remember that you are responsible for all actions taken in the name of your account. If your password has been compromised for any reason, you should immediately notify us and change your password. Remember, passwords must be at least 6 characters long and include at least one digit.
A cookie is a small text file that is places on a computer's browser to store preferences, keep record, etc... You may configure your browser to accept or reject all cookies or warn you when cookies are being set. Please note that if you reject cookies from GlobalNewsmen, you will not be able to user GlobalNewsmen services that require logging in.
Cookies, by themselves, cannot access your e-mail address or other personally identifiable information unless you choose to provide this information to us by registering or logging in or if you provide your information in contact us page. However, once you choose to furnish the site with personally identifiable information, this information may be linked to the data stored in the cookie.
Rewards and Badges
It you claim a badge or rewards and choose to receive one based on your qualification, you may be asked to provide personal information including name, home address, or to answer questions. The information that you provide may be transferred to a third party for processing and shipping.
Security of Information
We consider your personal information and any of your news content as an asset that must be protected and we use lots of tools (encryption, passwords, physical security, etc.) to protect the data against unauthorized access and disclosure. However, as you probably know, third parties may unlawfully intercept or access transmissions, and other users may abuse or misuse your personal information that they collect from the site. Therefore, although we work very hard to protect your privacy, we do not promise, and you should not expect, that your personal information or private communications will always remain private.
